The Pathology Lab Technician is responsible for collecting, preparing, and analyzing biological samples to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The role involves operating laboratory equipment, maintaining quality standards, following safety protocols, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of test results.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and process patient samples (blood, urine, stool, etc.)
Perform laboratory tests in hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and clinical pathology
Operate and maintain laboratory instruments (e.g., microscopes, analyzers, centrifuges)
Prepare specimens and slides for microscopic analysis
Maintain accurate records and data entry in Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Follow infection control, waste disposal, and biohazard handling procedures
Ensure adherence to lab SOPs, quality control standards, and safety protocols
Assist in lab audits, equipment calibration, and inventory management
Requirements
Educational Qualification:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT / BMLT)
Experience:
1–3 years of experience in a diagnostic lab or hospital (preferred)
Freshers with clinical training or internship experience may be considered
Technical Skills:
Phlebotomy and sample handling
Microscopy and staining techniques
Operation of lab equipment and analyzers
Knowledge of LIS and digital reporting systems
Familiarity with NABL/ISO standards (preferred)
Soft Skills:
Attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and teamwork
Ethical handling of patient information
Ability to work in shifts and under pressure
